Lotus Cup Italia is set to return under the spotlight this weekend at Vallelunga, as the Roman circuit hosts the third-to-last round of the 2025 season following the long summer break. The chase for the official Hethel trophy crown is heating up, with plenty of action expected both on and off the track.
All eyes will be on the duel between Massimo Abbati—2023 champion and current points leader—and reigning champion Alberto Naska. Yet with 15 Lotus Elise Cup PB-R cars lining up, several outsiders are ready to upset the balance. Among them, Giuseppe De Virgilio, Max Schiavone, and Maurizio Copetti are eager to challenge the frontrunners, aiming for a crucial victory to strengthen their Top 3 hopes ahead of the Misano Adriatico double-header. Schiavone will also have to fend off Hankook Trophy rival Michele Parretta, while veteran Vito Utzieri (2013 champion) and Nicola Schileo still have slim chances of threatening Parretta’s lead in the Master and Gold Cup standings.
The grid will also feature strong contenders such as Roberto Agostini, Niccolò Loia, Nazareno Compagnoni, Pietro Aiello, Andrea Gaggi, Massimo Petrella, and Francesco Gebbia, all motivated to capitalize on the 1.5x scoring coefficient in play at Vallelunga.
Track action begins on Friday, September 19, with free practice sessions at 11:00 and 14:50. Saturday will see Qualifying and Super Pole at 09:20, followed by Race 1 at 14:10. On Sunday, Race 2 goes green at 15:15. Fans will also enjoy a special autograph session and Grid Walk at 12:45, where PB Racing will line up two Lotus Emira GT4 entries in the X-GT4 Italy series.
As always, both races will be streamed live on www.lotuscup.it and the official Lotus Cup Italia YouTube channel.
PB Racing Lotus Bergamo will also field two Lotus Emira GT4 cars in the X-GT4 Italy. Massimo Abbati will share driving duties with Gianalberto Coldani, while the second car will be handled by Maurizio Copetti and Max Schiavone.
